An Open Letter From One Of The Right Wing Christians

I am truly amazed at the things I'm hearing on television these days. Things like that John McCain’s attack on Pat Robertson and Jerry Fallwell may help him win the primaries in California and New York. Things like people saying that the Christian right, whatever that is, has no place in politics and that Christian leaders should stay out of the fray. Have things gone so far that a politician can malign honorable men who stand up for what they believe in and it will actually help him at the polls? I shouldn’t be surprised. Jesus said that the world would hate us. But I thought that John McCain was a decent man. I have altered my opinion of him considerably. First of all, he claims to be a republican which he is not. He is an opportunist who is actually running against his own party and doesn’t seem to care if he tears it apart as long as he can keep riding around on that chartered jet. Well Mr. McCain let me explain something to you and your ilk. People like Pat Robertson and Jerry Fallwell do the things they do and say the things they say because they believe in them, not to win a popularity contest, or to look good on the evening news. They base their comments on the inerrant word of God and not on the findings of the latest Zogby Poll. What you call intolerance is a commitment to the high calling of Jesus Christ, and they have a right, actually a responsibility to be involved in politics. Pat Robertson and his organization do more good in this world than you and all the other 99 senators who speak of high ideals and helping the needy but do precious little to attain it. And when you do manage to get something through both houses of Congress it contains enough pork to sink the Queen Mary. While you’re sitting around trying to figure out how to win your next election Pat Robertson is sponsoring a flying hospital which goes around the world and treats people who would otherwise have little hope of receiving quality health care. And guess what, it’s all free. While you’re trying to make the other party look bad, Pat Robertson is feeding the hungry and clothing the naked and leading lost souls into the kingdom of God. What Al Gore and Bill Bradley call choice is murder. You see, the truth is the truth is the truth and you can’t change it with any amount of rhetoric. And if you don’t like that you can get mad at God, although I wouldn’t advise it, because it’s His word not mine. It’s strange to me that the people who keep this nation afloat with their pleadings and prayers to Almighty God to spare this country would be criticized and ridiculed. You should be thankful for the praying people of this country. I want to make it perfectly clear right now. I stand with my Christian brothers and sisters. I will pray for America and her citizens, her sick, her poor and her unsaved. I'll even pray for her politicians.

What do you think?
