Politics

Well, it’s already heating up and the election is not until November. You can’t hardly turn on your television set these days without being inundated with long winded political diatribes from a supposedly unbias media. Actually the media is about as unbiased as a Green Bay Packer fan. And if you watch closely enough you won’t have any trouble telling whose corner they’re in. After all, these are the same people who castigated Clarence Thomas for some supposedly off color remarks and hardly raised an eyebrow at the ridiculous antics of a lying, cheating President The same people who claimed that a chubby, little, air headed White House aide seduced a man whom we trust with the doomsday codes. The same people who nearly pass out at the mention of restoring prayer in school and defend the murder, yes murder of millions of innocent babies every year. This is the bunch who defend the right of a teenaged girl to have an abortion when the school nurse could lose her job for merely giving her an aspirin. These are the people who want to influence my vote? Well, I wouldn’t let George Stephanopoulus give me the directions to the men’s room in the Greyhound bus station, much less let him influence my vote. When we have a debate between the candidates they are not content to let the public draw their own conclusions. No sir, they have to tell us how the candidates stacked up, who came out on top and so on. Well, there’s an easy way to remedy this. Just turn your television off after the debate is over and make up your own mind about how the candidates did. Don’t let these people influence how you vote. That’s one of the problems with this country. We are becoming a nation of sheep. It’s time this country started thinking for itself. We became great because we used to be a nation of independent thinkers. Never forget that Peter Jennings, Dan Rather and the rest of their ilk have an ax to grind. They may be subtle about it but they manage to get their point across. I beg you America, don’t be persuaded to go against what you feel in your heart just because everybody else seems to be doing it. Think for yourself. Listen to the candidates, evaluate their honesty, or lack thereof and make up your own mind. I believe that America will have the most clear cut choice in this presidential election that we’ve had in years. I personally think that it’s coming down to George W. Bush and Al Gore. We know a lot about Al Gore because he’s been in the national spotlight for seven years. We know about his stand on abortion, environment and lots of other issues which will become very relevant in the months to come. We know less about Mr. Bush but I feel that he will stand diametrically opposed to some of Mr. Gore’s more liberal policies. Therein the choice. Make it for yourself.

What do you think?
