2000 Soap Box Archives Don't Make Sense One of the things which bothers me the most about the liberal mind set, and there are many of them, is their habit of throwing the baby out with the bath water. If you make a statement against their beliefs you are a bigot. If you say something about a minority you are a racist, even though what you said may be an attempt at constructive solutions to the many problems faced by minorities. For instance, if you truly want to help the Hispanic population in this nation, require that they be taught English. English is the official language of the United States of America and if you want to succeed you have to speak it. No amount of pandering by some milk sop politician can change the fact that if you want to do business in the upper echelons you have to speak the language that business is done in. But if you have guts enough to stand up and say this in the public forum you are dismissed as some fascist fanatic, when you may well be trying to be truthful and understanding. They scream about education but if you stand up and tell them what’s wrong they tell you that you just don’t understand the intricate issues involved. Well I'll admit that I've never been a Rhodes scholar nor do I have abbreviated letters attached to my name but I have enough cowboy smarts to know that you can’t expect little children to learn when they have to dodge bullets on the way to an unruly classroom and that if you want Johnny to learn how to read, teach him phonics. I'm so sick and tired of hearing Al Gore and Hillary Clinton rail on about how everyone who doesn’t support their socialistic policies, want to starve children and kick old folks out in the street. They know that what they’re saying is nothing but a bald faced lie. Nobody wants to starve children nor put our senior citizens on the street. It’s just more liberal balderdash. I'm tired of hearing them scream that a tax cut would benefit only the rich people. A tax cut is a tax cut and it releases more money into the economy which everybody benefits from no matter how small their tax cut is. Anyone who has watched a lot of public television knows that they lean way to the left. They embrace a political agenda in what is supposed to be a neutral medium. They have shows about evolution and espouse socialistic principles, which in my book makes it ineligible for government. yet when something was mentioned about cutting the funds Hillary Clinton screamed,”Leave Big Bird alone”. Knowing full well that Big Bird had nothing to do with what was going on. And the National Endowment to the Arts is a travesty as far as I'm concerned. I have nothing against public money being spent on acquiring masterpieces and maintain museums, but if art is good it doesn’t have to be endowed. If some of the things this bunch of highly educated clowns have spent money on is not only not art, it is an insult to the sensitivity of any decent thinking person. They scream about the environment passing stupid laws and denying the American citizens access to million and quarantining vast oil reserves which could reduce our dependence on foreign petroleum. But if somebody has the audacity to condemn their silliness, they accuse you of wanting to poison the air and water. Now seriously folks, who would want to do such a thing? Not me. America spends billions of dollars a year on frivolous lawsuits and insurance companies pay false claims just to stay out of court, which is passed on to us in the price of our premiums. But if you mention tort reform they say that you want to take away a poor person’s ability to sue. No that’s not what I want to do. I just want want to stop lining the pockets of unethical lawyers and ambulance chasers. They claim to be compassionate, and I'm sure that some of them are, but for the most part, it ain’t about compassion, it’s about power. What do you think? God
