2000 Soap Box Archives Day Of Reckoning This morning as I was praying I was thinking about how God sent his son to this earth to die the most painful, horrible death that anyone has ever suffered, and I know that Jesus suffered much, much more than anyone else ever has, knowing what kind of world he would be dying for. A world where innocent children are murdered by the millions and people act as if it was nothing more than swatting a fly. Where depraved men prey on little children and are turned back out into society again and again. Where the national media is inundated with shows which routinely defile and belittle the name of God and of Jesus Christ. Where truth and honor are just words and politicians recklessly risk the future of the greatest nation the world has ever known just to have a few more years in power. Where common sense is replaced by political correctness. What an immoral, depraved, Godless people we have become. When someone is willing to stand up for God they are ridiculed by the world. Well I here and now wish to inform the world at large that I will stand up for God and Jesus Christ and you can ridicule, laugh, criticize, demean and ostracize me and I will still make my stand. A time is coming when money, power, fame and material wealth will mean less than nothing. There is only one thing that will outlast the storm to come and that one thing is faith in God through the sacrifice of his son, Jesus Christ. And it is not for sale, it is absolutely free. When I think about the craven abortionist, the child molesters, the panty waist politicians and those who condone them, my first emotion is anger. Then when I stop and think about it I feel pity. Can you imagine Patricia Ireland defending a woman’s right to choose to God? Can you see Madeline Murray O’Hara explaining to God why there shouldn’t be prayer in school? Can you envision some apostate minister explaining why the Bible doesn’t really mean what it says? Can you see the Supreme Court justices explaining the constitution to Almighty God? Sound far fetched? Not at all. In fact, it’s going to happen one of these days. These people, as we all must, will have to give account for the way we’ve lived our lives. We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s standards but Jesus shed his blood as a covering for our sins. This covering is absolutely free and available to every human being ever born. It is accepted by repenting or turning away from our sins, believing in the deity and sacrifice of Jesus and verbally asking him into your heart and life. So instead of anger at the people who mock God and his laws we should be praying that they find Jesus. The alternative is horrible and eternal.
