Rambling

As I write this piece it is Monday before the election and of course I don’t know who will have won by the time you good people read this. I do however know that we’re probably all sick and tired of politics and ready to get off the subject for a while, so I thought I'd write a few snippets about what’s going on in my personal life, not that I think it’s so interesting, but just to change the subject for a while.. As I look out across my valley we are getting some much needed rain, hopefully enough and in time to give us some more of that beautiful fall foliage. It’s been so dry that the leaves have practically been turning from green to brown with just a smidgen of color here and there. I went to see the Titans play the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday and I don’t think them boys had a bit of skin left on their teeth when it was over. It was a squeaker, but the Titans won by two points and have an overall record of 8-1. Could another super bowl be looming on our horizon? I hope so. The Vols have had a pretty disappointing year as far as winning and losing is concerned but a great season in identifying the quarterback of the future for Tennessee. His name is Casey Clasen. A young man from Northridge, California. He is a true freshman, only eighteen years old and has tremendous potential, maybe even in the tradition of Shuler, Manning and Martin. We’ll see next year. I've had a real urge to go horseback riding lately. Thurman has got me a new horse. A big sorrel about sixteen hands high and gentle. I hope I can get on him the next few days. Every year when the weather turns cold we are inundated with ladybugs. They’re all over the house, in the windows and even fly into my bed at night. Now it goes against the grain to kill a ladybug, but what can you do? We’ve got a new dog. A little Boston terrier named Beezle and he’s got more personality than a fat coon. He can jump about three times his height and is always jumping in the car when you get ready to go somewhere. I've never seen a dog who loves to ride in a car as much as he does. You know I don’t think I've ever done anything as aggravating as playing golf. Just about the time that you think you’ve got it figured out a little bit, everything falls apart and you start doing everything wrong. If it wasn’t so much fun, I'd just quit. It’s almost time to break out the cold weather gear again. It’s always fun to me when that first little cold nip hits the air. I just love for it to be cold during the Christmas holidays. Brud, the handy man, has got us a bunch of firewood laid aside and I'm ready to start having a fire in the fireplace. I just love an open fire. We’re still in the process of putting the finishing touches on a live album which we’ll probably be releasing next spring. We’ve just started setting dates for Volunteer Jam 2001 and we’re looking forward to a dynamite show. I can’t divulge who is going to be on it as yet because we don’t have the contracts signed but I can say that it’s going to be a great night of music. I guess everybody’s making their plans for Thanksgiving and I hope you can all spend it with the ones you love.

Thanks for letting me ramble on.
